Russell Ablewhite


Russell has been singing for decades now. In the early he sang as a soloist

in London and her regions and abroad.

Roles have been varied and include dozens of character roles and principal roles including:

 Almaviva, Ramiro,

Menelaus, Ajax, Nemorino, Lindoro, Flute,

Macduff,  Duca, Alfredo

for companies that include The London Opera Players, Mynack Opera (Alfredo), Singapore

Opera (Flute),

Battignano, Hastings Opera, Opera Anglia and other regional companies.

Oratorio includes; Verdi Requiem, Dvorak Stabat Mater, Mahler Das Lied von der Erde, Rossini Messe

Solennelle, Handel Samson etc.

He has sung in four productions of Wagner's Die Meistersinger at The Very Royal Opera House, Covent Garden,

as an apprentice.

Here, they understand the principal of costumes, wigs and make-up.

In all he has sung at the opera house for twenty five years, on and off.

From his base on a narrow boat in  West London, ploughing through the dense traffic on a

Triumph Tiger motorcycle,  

he spent the years from the millennium singing

as a soloist in opera and oratorio and as an exra chorister at

The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden and English National Opera.

Aslo he worked regularly with the famous professional choral group, London Voices

where he took part in many concerts and recording sessions including films such as

Lord of the Rings and Star Wars. 

He also sung with European Voices, notably in a production of Peter Grimes at

the Salzburg Festival with

Trevor Nunn and Sir Simon Rattle and the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra,

He was a regular singer with the Dutch Radio Choir in Amsterdam.

He also held a regular street performer license and performed opera and songs in the plaza at

Covent Garden

and in the renowned opera restaurant, Sarastro's, round the corner in Drury Lane.

From 2011 to 15 he lived in Oslo, Norway, singing, teaching singing and writing.

Now he is back his home county of Sussex and is available to sing opera and oratorio.
